An artist walks into a bar…with the purpose of instructing you, the drinker, on how to paint a reasonable reproduction of a predetermined work of art. All art supplies are provided, no experience is necessary, and you paint, drink, and meet people for 2 solid hours! From what we hear, it’s a bit of a singles scene.
These Paint Nite parties, launched in 2012, have become a nationwide phenomenon and are selling out in Westchester at locations including Sofrito (White Plains), Molly Spillane’s (Mamaroneck), Rudy’s Sports and Entertainment (Hartsdale), and Siena’s Trattoria (Yonkers), with upcoming events to be held at Beechmont Tavern (New Rochelle and White Plains), The Huddle (Sleepy Hollow), Havana Central (Yonkers)—the list seems to grow every day. The website shows you what you’ll be painting and gives you some background on the instructor. On what normally might be a slow night, the restaurant draws a crowd and you know you’re going home with at least a painting—win win.
