Dobbs Ferry’s Brooklyn Market Is an Urban Food Haven in Suburbia

Off the Saw Mill Parkway, neatly tucked beneath the popular iPic Theater and dining attractions of Rivertowns Square, Brooklyn Market is making a name for itself.

With bright lights and dark shelves reminiscent of a Williamsburg coffee shop, this Westchester County branch of the family-owned business is bringing big Brooklyn flavors to Dobbs Ferry. Regular staples get an artisanal upgrade, so you’re bound to stumble upon pepperoncini, Parmesan cheese, or grapefruit IPA during regular grocery stops. Despite the focus on unique and premium products, mainstream brands can be had, as well.

In addition to the tall aisles and a sparkling fresh produce section advertising prices on LED screens, there’s a bakery, meat counter, self-service hot-foods bar, seafood counter, and a pizza bar complete with an expert who seems to be perpetually tossing dough in the air. It’s a picture-perfect microcosm of your local Brooklyn haunt but with the convenience of ample free parking.

Operations Manager Danny Wodzenski is confident that Brooklyn Market is a viable competitor to Stop & Shop in the village, citing its patented Brooklyn flavor and an upcoming social media campaign, bound to draw in those pining for city fare.

One thing is for certain: Brooklyn Market has an urban artisan feel without the cutthroat Brooklynites who’d wheel you over for the last blueberry kombucha.
