Dining Scene News and Notes

  • New to the Peekskill waterfront is Buns-N-Bourbon (55 Hudson St 914-788-2867), a food-on-a-bun eatery serving Amish natural beef burgers, American Homestead hot dogs, sausage patties from Cold Spring-based Marbled Meat Shop, and wild-caught Gulf shrimp sandwiches. Hudson Hospitality is the parent restaurant group, which also runs Taco Dive Bar and the Hudson Room in Peekskill, plus Lanza Farms in Garrison. Behind the 40-foot-long bar made of Vermont barnwood are 99 bottles of brown American spirits, including Widow Jane bourbon whiskey and Black Dirt apple jack. There is also VIP elevated “bourbon cage” seating overlooking the dining room.

  • The first Westchester location of Shake Shack (2090 Mall Walk, Yonkers 914-289-1302) opened on July 22 in the Cross County Shopping Center. The Danny Meyer fast-casual burger stand with more than 95 locations worldwide offers Angus beef burgers; antibiotic-free and no-added-hormones Vienna beef dogs; cage-free, antibiotic-free chicken; frozen custard, and wine and craft beer.
