Throwback Thursday
The Livanos Family’s City Limits restaurant turns 20 this year. |
Remember 1994, when a sit-down burger set you back a mere $7, or when you paid south of $5 for a chicken salad sandwich? Or how about this, and we’re sorry to do this to you—$7 for a Cosmopolitan. God it was good.
City Limits Diner in White Plains is capitalizing on the nostalgia of yesterday’s low prices at its 20th anniversary “Throwback to 1994” celebration this Thursday, May 8th, during which the better-than-diner diner’s most popular items will be offered at 1994-inspired prices. Sign us up plz.
City Limits is the oldest and longest running restaurant in the Livanos family’s stable of eateries, which includes Moderne Barn in Armonk, Aboccatto Italian Kitchen in Manhattan, and City Limits’ sister spot in Stamford, Connecticut.
“We’ve come a long way since City Limits first opened its doors, changing with the needs of our guests and also staying true to what City Limits is all about—great food and family,” says Owner Nick Livanos. That’s a polite way of saying, “We’re constantly packed and we just renovated every inch of the place.” The White Plains landmark underwent a full remodel in 2012, which updated the décor, expanded the bar area, and, most importantly of course, revamped the pastry counter to showcase Pastry Chef Tracy Kamperdyk Assue’s mouthwatering creations.
The 20th anniversary menu will feature breakfast favorites like a “light” egg-white omelet for $7.95 and house-smoked Atlantic salmon and warm potato mushroom cake for $8.75; lunch and dinner options like oriental chicken salad, curried egg salad, and a smoked chicken & corn quesadilla (all below $9). Plus, if you’re not up for a Cosmopolitan, you can go with a Manhattan (also $7).
