I don’t want to promote gluttony (it’s one of the seven deadly sins for a reason, folks), yet I have to admit to a certain base pleasure from overindulging in food (Thanksgiving, the first summer barbecue, the brisket cheese fries at Q Restaurant and Bar in Port Chester…). TV shows such as Man v. Food and competitive food eating competitions (all hail Joey Chestnut!) play into this ignoble yet genuine human inclination. I mean, who hasn’t knocked off an entire bag of potato chips (Kettle Brand Sea Salt flavor anyone?) in one sitting.
With that qualification out of the way, let’s talk giant menu items at Bowlmor, the new neon-lit, loud-soundtrack-playing bowling alley with lane-side food service, 50-plus game arcade, cocktails, and an adult-only lanes section in the White Plains Shopping Center off Tarrytown Road.

There’s the Coney Mega Dog (above, $17.99) with mustard, diced onions, and mayo-based Coney sauce reminiscent of a ballpark frank—tasty in a blue-collar, everyman food kind of way. There’s also a Chicago version (shown top) with peppers, pickles, tomatoes, relish, onions, and mustard.
The signature mega item at Bowlmor, however, is the aptly named Behemoth Burger (above, $54.99) weighing in at five pounds and measuring 14 inches. This bad-boy of beef is a giant cheeseburger with eight slices of bacon, 10 slices of American cheese, 12 slices of tomato, a cup of house-made sauce, and half a head of iceberg lettuce.
It’s referred to as a “party burger” on the menu and is “meant for sharing,” feeding about five to six people. I didn’t have the nerve to order it with just my petite-sized fiancée riding foodie shotgun, but that’s approaching a pound of beef per person—an amount any quintet of occasional food gluttons should be able to handle.
