David Krinick, 29

Owner, Mesh Print Studio

Back in 2013, David Krinick did what any great entrepreneur does: He saw a void in the market — and worked to fill it.

The University of Rochester grad had picked up screen-printing, helping friends make posters and band T-shirts. When he returned to his hometown of New Rochelle, he had “a desire to bring some of the arts culture I was steeped in back to a city I love, which had been missing for my demographic here,” he says. Feeling like Westchester’s arts culture was “lagging 45 years behind what could be found in New York City, just 45 minutes away,” Krinick says he “saw the potential and grew Mesh from the ground up.”

These days, Mesh Print Studio boasts a strong client list, including Yonkers Brewing Co., Casper Mattress, and The Rock Club, among others. More than just a run-of-the-mill print shop, Mesh offers private lessons and hosts workshops, cultivating a community of artists and designers. Krinick has renovated three times in order to grow with increased demand, ballooning from a 1,000 sq. ft. space to more than twice that — doubling revenue, as well. “I have worked more late nights than I’d like to count; I’ve learned an immense amount about every level of business,” he says.

Krinick chalks up his success in a heady type of way: “I have my head in the clouds, thinking in a bit of a utopian way, while having my feet grounded in a solid work ethic. I don’t quit.”
