The last time my daughter had short hair was when she took a pair of scissors to it at age three. But now, at 21 and about to graduate from college, she decided to go for a more sophisticated look. Cutting curly hair is tricky, so we went to the pros at Devachan Hair Salon and Spa in White Plains (link here). While stylist Jacquelyn Walent was snipping away, she counseled Lauren on the basic care and maintenance of curls: how to wash (scalp only), comb (fingers only), and scrunch (flip hair upside down for most volume). The result? “I love the mischievous, pixie-like quality of the cut,” Lauren says. “It’s a lot more playful and fun to style.” We agree.
