SUNNY OUTLOOK ON MORGAN STANLEY SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT
The source of years of political discord, a multi-billion dollar downtown Yonkers redevelopment deal is getting redesigned. The deal, which included waterfront apartment towers, a retail and office complex, and a new government center across from City Hall, was derailed by the recent recession and the weak economic recovery that followed. The Yonkers City Council is now crafting a plan for two waterfront towers without the participation of Valhalla-based Cappelli Enterprises. Now, Fidelco Realty Group is slated to build Palisades Point, a complex including two rental apartment towers south of the Yonkers Pier. The $100 million project will have about 325, 125 fewer than the previous plans estimated 450.
The county announced that its latest $56.9 million bond issue was, in terms of demand and price, one of the most successful ever. Recently, Westchester, the county with the highest credit rating in the state, sold two bond series, which amounted to $56,955,000. The proceeds from the bonds will help to repair roads and bridges and to improve recreational parks. The winning bids for both series were lower than the industry’s index for AAA rated municipal bonds.

The Food Bank for Westchester has welcomed April K. Langus as its new manager of communications and events. Prior to joining the Food Bank, Langus worked with Westchester area Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., Private Wealth Advisors as their in-house marketing manager and as operations and marketing manager at Joan Lunden Productions in Armonk.

Susan Mistri will serve as senior general manager of Life Time Athletic Westchester, a fitness, recreation, and athletic resort. The facility is the Life Time Athletic’s second in New York and will open early next year.
Hawthorne-based OLA Consulting Engineers, a sustainability-focused provider of building systems analysis, design, and commissioning, has promoted several Senior Engineers to Associates.
- Jonathan Katz, P.E., C.E.M., LEED AP, is part of OLA’s Energy Engineering Services Group. He has expertise in conducting energy audits, feasibility studies, mechanical design for HVAC and energy projects, building control systems design, whole building simulations, and energy modeling of building systems.
- Richard Joyce, P.E., LEED AP, a 10-year veteran of OLA, is part of the firm’s Mechanical Engineering Services Group. He typically designs all disciplines of mechanical engineering on his projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Matthew Amicone, P.E. LEED AP, joined OLA as a summer intern during college, transitioning to full time after graduation in 2002. As part of the firm’s Electric Engineering Services Group, he has experience in a broad spectrum of projects, including government facilities, education, retail, medical, and office spaces.
Currently ranked the 38th best chorus in the world, the acclaimed Westchester Chordsmen chorus performed a new version of Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” in White Plains on December 7. The 60+ members of the group are Westchester-based professionals and retirees. Celebrating its 60th anniversary as a non-profit this year, the ensemble has performed at Carnegie Hall and won the Division Contest in May 2013.
