College Sweethearts Go Vintage at University Settlement Camp in Beacon

While long, vintage-inspired lace sleeves are everywhere right now, it’s rare to find a dress that’s truly antique. For her wedding to Philip, Angela – who runs a vintage clothing boutique in Beacon – wore a 100-year-old (!) dress that she found on Etsy just two months before her wedding day. “When we moved to Beacon we absolutely fell in love with University Settlement Camp,” says Angela. “Once we got engaged we didn’t look at a single other place.” To let the rustic character of the venue shine, tables were set with simple white linens, mismatched vintage plates, and wildflowers. “The original plan was to use pink peonies from our own yard, but a couple days before our wedding we could tell that there was no chance they would bloom on time,” recalls Angela. Luckily, the couple found a field of wild flowers near their home and “obliterated” it for the big day. Philip’s mother, a professional baker, made a naked almond chiffon cake with lemon filling in keeping with the wedding’s earthy décor.

From the Bride: I was told that your wedding day goes so fast and to make sure you take moments to really connect with each other and slow down. We felt like it would be a perfect idea for us to have dinner just the two of us. It was honestly the best decision we made for our wedding. Sitting under that tree, knowing that we just became husband and wife, stands out so clearly in my memory.
