When it comes to the Great Outdoors, there’s the camping we grew up with (sleeping bags, tents, and hot dogs over the fire), and then there’s Collective Hudson Valley. Since last summer, the first East Coast outpost of Collective Retreats has offered high-end luxury glamping at Liberty Farms in Ghent.
Each of the 10 spacious canvas tents boasts not-your-typical-campsite amenities, like king beds with Egyptian-cotton sheets, rustic chandeliers, French-press coffee bars, seating areas, full electric and heating, and private en suite bathrooms.
Classic activites, like hiking, are encouraged — there’s even a concierge to point you in the direction of the best trails — but, Liberty Farms also offers a bevy of other options, including horseback riding, farm education, and in-tent massages.
Dining options also get an upgrade. Roast your own cider-brined pork chops and grass-fed beef over the grill, or sit down to a three-course tasting menu on the farm. Even the s’mores — maple-toffee cookies and caramel-apple marshmallows — are a bit more gourmet, though the fun of making them hasn’t changed.
Collective Hudson Valley operates from April through November 4.
