“A Tree Grows in Pleasantville,” the Jewish Child Care Association’s (JCCA) opening fundraiser of 2013, raised $350,000 for at-risk youth at JCCA’s Cottage Schools.
The 250 guests at the eighth annual event heard the stories of four Cottage School residents through spoken word and original poetry. Peter Hauspurg, new board president of JCCA, also addressed the crowd.
The Cottage Schools are residential treatment programs caring for 325 emotionally troubled youngsters in a supervised and protected environment. The program was founded in 1912; the JCCA helps children and families of all faiths and backgrounds.
