Clinton Supporters View and Boo at Election Watch Party

Chappaqua Friends of Hillary gathered to stand by their hometown candidate at her favorite restaurant

“I really feel like we left it all in the field,” said Dawn Greenberg, founder of Chappaqua’s Friends of Hillary. Sitting on the lawn of Crabtree’s Kittle House, she jumped at the sound of another audible “Boo!” from the group huddled inside. “Say the results of this election don’t turn out the way we hoped,” she continued, “I really don’t think there was much more we could’ve done.”

Of course, it’s clear now the election didn’t end well for Clinton, but the early odds in Trump’s favor didn’t stop the Chappaqua community from cheering on their notable neighbor late into Tuesday night. A large crowd had gathered to watch the results pour in at Kittle House, Clinton’s favorite hometown restaurant where the Democratic candidate appeared via satellite back in July to accept her presidential nomination.

The event was organized by Chappaqua Friends of Hillary, a group that initially started as a few friends chatting about their choice nominee over drinks, and grew into a following of more than a thousand people. “We do everything that they do at the White Plains office and Hillary’s campaign headquarters, but we do it all from our living rooms,” said Holly McCall, who spearheaded the group’s communications efforts.

While morale remained positive through the night, it was evident early on that the results wouldn’t not turn out as anticipated. “Regardless of the outcome,” said McCall, “We  believe in her and her fights for family values, women’s rights, and social equality. Her spirit will continue to spread.”
