Chris Guerrero Is a Fitness Coach and Westchester Influencer

Whether it was shattering his elementary school’s sit-up record or spending hours as a child watching his mother work out with a personal trainer, fitness has always been part of Chris Guerrero’s life. It may be no surprise, then, that the Instagram account of the former CrossFit Games competitor and founder of Westchester Fit is dedicated to improving the health and mental well-being of his more than 12K followers.

Guerrero had begun a career in finance before dropping by a CrossFit/Strongman gym that would change his life. “I just thought it was so cool. They had all these tires and stones, and everyone was in great shape,” shares Guerrero, “I then started training myself in CrossFit.” That was 2008, and by March of 2010, Guerrero had quit his job at JP Morgan and opened CrossFit Westchester in White Plains. He rebranded the business to Westchester Fit in 2017.

It was then that Guerrero began to take social media seriously. “In 2018, I realized I probably should have more of a social media presence, so I started to put an emphasis on my own personal page, which I figured would, as a personal brand, be able to bring business and revenue into the gym,” he explains. “In the beginning, I was inconsistent with the posting and wasn’t really utilizing the platform as it fully could have been used. Slowly, it started to evolve into: Okay, let me highlight some of my own workouts; let me highlight workouts other people can do; and let me throw in some nutrition tips, as well.”

Guerrero ushered in this new era with his Core 365 project. “I literally posted a core [workout] video every single day for a year,” says Guerrero. “It was insane.” Nowadays, Guerrero says he tries to post at least five to seven times a week. “The topics vary, but it’s usually a workout that I have done that people can try, movements that people can do, nutrition tips, or simple little tidbits that either come to me or in my day-to-day conversations with clients that I feel are really helpful and that I try to then convert into digestible information.”

During the pandemic, Guerrero even offered free workouts through a Facebook group and continues to focus on promoting health — both physical and mental — through his Instagram account. “A lot of guys don’t talk about mental health, but I have been pretty open about it because I really have being trying to break that stigma,” notes Guerrero. “I am really trying to find a way to provide what people are looking for, to provide an outlet, and get people on a path to living a healthy life.”
