In our August 2013 issue, for a feature titled “The Kids Are All Right,” we named third grader Jake Berman as someone to watch. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, he said he wanted to be a “singer/actor/dancer.” Now, at the ripe old age of 10, it looks like he’s accomplished his professional goal. Berman has been cast in the role of Theo in the national Broadway tour of Pippin; he’ll be performing throughout the U.S. and Japan. When asked his favorite thing about performing, Berman said, “The backstage drama—all the intrigue of how things work backstage as opposed to what the audience sees. Also, the camaraderie of becoming a family for that time that you’re in a show.” He’s particularly looking
forward to checking out the different theaters, especially in Japan. We knew he had it in him from the beginning.
