Catch Former 914INC. Wunderkind Kris Ruby On New Bravo Reality Show

Share

Update (2/23): Tonight’s the night, people. Tune in to Bravo at 10:30 pm to catch former 914INC. Wunderkind honoree Kris Ruby on Friends to Lovers? as she searches for true love in a place that might seem a bit familiar to you: our 2014 Wine & Food Week Burger & Beer Blast! Ruby is president of the Westchester- and NYC-based social media marketing and PR firm Ruby Media Group. She appears on the show with her close friend, Alex Goldman, the executive chef and owner of Five Senses Catering in New York City. Will Ruby and Alex be a love match, or will they be digitally incompatible? Find out tonight!

Those of us who spend too much time watching Bravo are probably already hooked on the channel’s latest reality show, Friends to Lovers?, which follows five couples who are trying to make the jump from friendship to “something more.” But if you’re more likely to tune into CNBC during your off hours, there’s a local element to Friends to Lovers? that might pique your interest: Westchester native and previous 914INC Wunderkind Kris Ruby is one of the show’s stars. Plus, one of the upcoming episodes (the show airs Monday nights at 10 pm) features some familiar Westchester sights, including Westchester Magazine’s very own Burger and Beer Blast, which took place last June at Kensico Dam in Valhalla.

Ruby, who is president of Westchester- and NYC-based social media marketing and PR firm Ruby Media Group, appears on the show with her longtime friend Alex Goldman, an executive chef and owner of Five Senses Catering in New York City. The two met in Manhattan eight years ago and have been close friends ever since. Ruby says she was so focused on building her PR firm (with good results; the 27-year-old is a leading on-air social media commentator) that she didn’t think much about a potential love match with Alex until recently.

Fittingly, it was a business move that brought the two together.

Alex Goldman & Kris Ruby

“When Alex took my advice to start his own company, that made me more interested,” Ruby explains.

Shooting a show about her private life has been challenging for the “all-business” Ruby.

“It has definitely been good exposure for my business so more people on a national scale can see our social media and PR service offering. But doing the show was a tough decision for me to make… this was definitely outside of my comfort zone,” she explains. “Sharing anything about my personal life and exposing that side of my life felt like a huge risk.”

Though she won’t dish on the ultimate outcome of her dating experience with Goldman, she did give us a sneak peek on what to expect when the Westchester-centric episode airs on February 23. Ruby brings Goldman to Westchester for “a behind the scenes look at my life as a publicist and social media person who is always on 24/7. I also wanted him to meet my clients and see my Westchester roots,” she says.

While at Westchester Magazine’s Burger and Beer Blast (Ruby Media Group was hired to increase social media buzz and engagement at the event), Ruby discovers some “digital compatibility” issues (yes, apparently, that is a thing) with Goldman.

She leaves us with this cliffhanger: “Will Alex support me at Burger Bash by posting selfies and using the hashtag we came up with? Or will he be anti-social-media at my event?”

Friends to Lovers? airs on Bravo on Monday nights at 10 pm. Catch the Westchester–centric episode on February 23.
