Spotlight on Women’s Leadership
Businesswomen in Westchester County have a great opportunity to strengthen and broaden their skills when The Women’s Leadership Institute at The Manhattanville School of Business hosts its first annual Women’s Conference on June 3 from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm at Reid Castle. Featuring emcee Juana Hart and keynote speakers Patricia Galloway, Vicki Escarra, and Evelyne R. Matthews, this full-day summit will include four interactive workshops (attendees can choose up to two), a continental breakfast and lunch, and a networking session from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
Tickets are $395 per person for regular admission; $885 (three attendees with the fourth free) for corporate admission; or $150 per person for special personnel, including Manhattanville faculty, staff, and alumni, or nonprofit organizations.
Celebrate Westchester’s Green Businesses
Join Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino and President and CEO of The Business Council of Westchester Marsha Gordon as they reward Westchester’s green business leaders. The Fifth Annual WGBC Recognition Event & Awards Ceremony takes place June 4 from 5 to 7:30 pm at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains. Honorees include Arc of Westchester, Suburban Carting, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Allied Converters, Diamond Properties, and Purchase College.

To help business owners improve their budgeting skills, Westchester Community College is hosting Understand Your Budget for Business Success!, a free workshop on June 4 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Gateway Center in Valhalla. The workshop will explain: the importance of a budget; how to create, manage, and update a budget for your business; ways to forecast revenue and expenses; and the dynamics of money in a fast-changing world.

Running your own business or thinking about starting one? It’s time to get connected, and the Westchester County Association’s Young Professional Happy Hour Series is the place to do it. Taking place on June 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Lola’s Mexican Kitchen in White Plains, young professionals have the opportunity to meet new people, explore downtown White Plains, and become a part of the Westchester business community. White Plains, will focus on building customer loyalty, the customer experience, and leadership to develop an engaged, service-oriented workforce. Meet Westchester’s “Rising Stars”
The Business Council is pleased to recognize the county’s most promising young professionals who work with some of Westchester County’s most vital companies, institutions, and organizations. This year’s winners represent a wide range of professionals from various backgrounds including marketing, advertising, public safety, government, media, health care, education, social work, hospitality, and nonprofits, among others. They will receive their Rising Star award during a ceremony on June 11 at 800 Westchester Avenue, Rye Brook, from 5 to 8 pm.
Modeled after the national business recognition program Forty under Forty, Rising Stars is specifically designed to recognize individuals under the age of 40 who exemplify leadership, foresight, and a vision for the future of Westchester County.
