With 21-plus years of experience in recruitment, Lea Tal and her company, TAL Healthcare, have placed thousands of medical providers and executives at Westchester Medical Center, White Plains Hospital, Montefiore, New York-Presbyterian/Westchester, and Care Mount Medical; in other words: “all the big players in Westchester,” she says.
Tal, who’s been called a “professional matchmaker,” discovered recruiting by luck, after a career shift from retail to service. “One day I found an ad for a recruiter, and I didn’t know what it was,” she says. “But it included all the ingredients I had to allow me to contribute my skillset and give back to the community.”
Those ingredients, she says, include a strong work ethic, thinking out of the box, being creative, and being a good listener. Her Mount Kisco-based company has been profitable from day one, and Tal now leads a staff of 25. Leadership, she says, comes easily to her. “In every industry I’ve been in, I mentored many people,” she says. “Being a strong female role model comes naturally. My mother raised three kids, and as the only daughter, I never had a doubt in what I could do.”
Tal says she most enjoys helping healthcare organizations build strong internal staff. “Nothing is better than improving the lives of people we trust and helping people achieve success in their career journey, and while doing that, improving our clients’ teams,” she explains. Being a part of healthcare holds special importance to Tal. “A piece of everyone’s heart in healthcare is about giving back to the community,” she notes.
