Ellen Rothschild

Ellen Rothschild cofounded Digiscribe, an Elmsford-based company that provides digital solutions to businesses, in 2001 with two partners — one of them her husband. The company, which helps offices achieve “paperless” status, offering document scanning, document managing, and workflow automation, now comprises 75 employees at two locations, in Elmsford and just outside of Boston.

As chief marketing officer, Rothschild brought her previous experience in the advertising industry to help market the company, moving from trade shows and direct mail to social media, paid advertising, search-engine optimization, email campaigns, blogging, content development, and a highly successful website. These savvy marketing initiatives currently account for more than half of Digiscribe’s new business, and the company has experienced an average annual growth rate of 20% over the past four years.

In addition to her work at Digiscribe, Rothschild has served on numerous nonprofit boards over the past 20 years, including Feeding Westchester, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Westchester County, and Westchester County Association.

A colleague calls Rothschild’s leadership style one of “diplomatic communication, inclusion, strong decision-making, and accountability.” Rothschild says having a clear vision of “where you want to take your company and communicating that vision” is critical. “It’s about keeping people in the loop and getting their buy-in,” she says, “because a good leader is only as good as the people she surrounds herself with.”
