Editors’ Award for Transformative Achievement: Dr. Marsha Gordon

President & CEO: The Business Council of Westchester

If not for Dr. Marsha Gordon, Westchester likely wouldn’t be the booming commerce sector it is today. As the president and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester (BCW) since 2001, her words and actions have had a significant, tangible, and lasting impact. The 1,000-member organization — which advocates for Westchester’s economic interests and helps local businesses thrive — has been the core of the county’s business community for years.

Gordon, who has an MBA in business administration from Marist College and a doctorate in professional studies in management and marketing from Pace University, helps BCW members at all levels and trades, from solopreneurs to global corporations, move forward with their professional goals. Her passions include workforce development, helping young people find career paths and serving on the executive committee of the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council.

“Marsha is laser-focused on promoting economic development in Westchester County,” says John Ravitz, the BCW’s executive vice president and COO. “Her passion for Westchester is evident whenever she is meeting with our members and new corporations that are thinking about relocating to Westchester. She is also committed to helping BCW members shine, by promoting their business to key stakeholders in New York State on a daily basis.”

For all of her Herculean efforts, she received one of the 63 New York State Senate’s 2017 Women of Distinction Awards.

“I constantly strive to be a role model for professionalism, ethics, leadership and good business,” Gordon says. “Our work is all about creating jobs and producing opportunities that will help people and families in Westchester do well, prosper and lead good lives.”
