Another Notch in Hastings’ Hipster Belt

Local Look

Backing up our recent inkling that Hastings-on-Hudson has evolved into something of an unlikely hipster haven, the quaint Rivertown is also home to one of the most Williamsburg-y shopping opportunities in the county: the Hastings Flea.

Having kicked off its second season April 13, the community affair pops up on the second Sunday of the month through October, with the next event on Mother’s Day, May 11—which is convenient, as moms tend to be into things like antique furniture, locally made crafts, and original paintings and pottery.

The better news is, you and the kids will enjoy yourselves, too: Check out Hudson Valley vendors’ cool handmade jewelry, thrifty/bespoke threads, and vintage home goods and collectibles. Tire out the tots with activities like face painting, then vibe with the live music—with snack in hand from one of the visiting hot spots you’ve been meaning to get to, like Johnson Food Truck, Taiim Falafel Shack, or The Mill.

Once shop closes up at the downtown MTA commuter lot around 4 pm—look for special Mother’s Day treats and raffles—pick up a handy map of the village for more outdoor strolling, exploring, and, yes, shopping.

Follow the Flea on Twitter for updates.
