The Town of Mount Pleasant, which is located in central Westchester County, includes a range of commercial developments that bring communal benefits to the municipality. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, PepsiCo Inc., and Fuji Photo Film USA, Inc. are only a few of the major companies located in the area, but this list will now grow bigger with the recent approval of a $99 million construction project in Hawthorne.
The Mount Pleasant Industrial Agency (IDA) approved the development of a 153,062-square-foot e-commerce distribution center at 211 Saw Mil River Road on April 21. The project is expected to create 100 full-time and part-time jobs in addition to 1,000 construction jobs.
The one-story distribution center is located on 10.475 acres. It will contain 136,214 square feet of warehouse space and 16,848 square feet of office space. The Mount Pleasant development will feature plenty of parking spaces, including 12 truck loading spaces and 62 van loading spaces at grade.
The project developer, USRE Hawthorne LLC, is also in the permitting stages with the NYSDOT to create a traffic signal on Route 9A at Belmont Road and a left turning lane from the south. These road improvements will improve the traffic flow in the town.
“The IDA is pleased to provide incentives for this important project which represents a significant private investment in our yown,” Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi says. “In addition to creating much-needed new jobs, it will also generate tax revenue for the town and school district without adding any new students and will contribute toward road improvements to Route 9A. This is a win-win for the town and school district.”
