Where to Wow Your Clients

Impress your guests with lavish meals, posh drink selections, and high-roller entertainment at these Westchester County locations.

Whether you’re wooing a big out-of-town client or want to impress your best local business partner, you can’t go wrong with these hotspots for dining, drinking, entertaining, and spending the night

Breakfast

The Barn at Bedford Post Inn, Bedford

Skip the corporate cafeteria in favor of a luxurious breakfast at this Richard Gere-owned Relais & Châteaux property. The elegant dining room serves breakfast seven days a week, featuring freshly pressed juices and refined egg dishes. Or, discuss the details of your next deal over a puffy Dutch pancake with caramel apples and candied pecans. If the whole point of getting out of the office is to de-stress while you impress, a table under the pergola on the outdoor patio is an absolute must in summer, when lush greenery adds to the inn’s charm.

Coffee

Business Is Brewing: These three coffee spots are perfect for a quick tête-à-tête over a spectacular cup o’ joe.

Traditionally Bohemian:
Peekskill Coffee House, Peekskill

That Millennial client with the eco-friendly startup will love the coffee (and the laid-back vibe) at this Peekskill institution that’s been dubbed the city’s “living room.” All the espresso drinks are made with an organic blend from Washington-based Dillano’s Coffee Roasters, which uses sustainable practices whenever possible.

Sleek & Modern:
Market North, Armonk

- Partner Content -

This glossy white market (from the owners of Restaurant North) is brewing some of the coolest coffee in town, using small batches of fair-trade, single-origin beans from Path Coffee Roasters in Port Chester. They’re also serving trendy nitro coffee—cold brew that’s pumped from a keg, using nitrogen, to create a creamy head and ultra-rich flavor.

Small & Cozy:
Antoinette’s Patisserie, Hastings-on-Hudson

Your client might think you’re crazy when they arrive to meet you at this tiny gem in a not-so-stellar Hastings neighborhood, but one sip of the coffee (especially the rich cappuccino) will assuage any concerns. Inside, the décor is more tearoom than coffee shop (without too much kitsch), and the small tables are just big enough for a couple of cups, a few important documents, and some pastries.

Lunch

Red Hat on the River, Irvington

Nothing encourages potential investors to spend millions quite like a million-dollar view. And Red Hat on the River might just have the best Hudson River vista in the county. Snag one of the hard-to-get outdoor tables, where there’s nothing in either direction to obstruct your view or diminish the light breeze coming off the water. Or, choose a table by an open window in the stunning, 100-year-old refurbished factory’s exposed-brick dining room. No matter where you sit, the chic, Parisian-bistro-inspired food remains the same (don’t miss the stellar boudin blanc). Can’t make lunch? Bring your clients to Happy Hour here—the trendy rooftop is one of the county’s hottest summer spots for an after-work drink.

Brunch

The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges, Pound Ridge

If your Monday meeting gets into town early, make a CEO-worthy first impression by taking them to Sunday brunch at The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges. The mere fact that it’s Manhattan chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s only Westchester restaurant is enough to impress, but everything from the warm taupe tones and soaring beamed ceiling to the superlative service add to the memorable experience. The brunch menu is almost absurdly decadent: Peekytoe crab crostini, yellowfin tuna burger with miso mayonnaise, spiced French toast with caramelized mango, black truffle pizza, and beef tenderloin with carrot-hibiscus mustard. The bad news: Your client may find tomorrow morning’s donuts in the conference room a bit of a letdown.

Cocktails

The National, Greenwich

There’s no business meeting that a few cocktails won’t improve. If you’re going to ply your business partners with drinks so that they’ll ink the next big deal, it only makes sense to treat them to the best. At The National, three-Michelin-starred bartender Brian Van Flandern has crafted a menu of exceptional drinks, running the gamut from a classic Hemingway Daiquiri to a $75 cocktail made with Johnnie Walker Blue Label. The food from celebrity-chef Geoffrey Zakarian and the swanky décor—leather U-shaped booths, palms, and a patterned tile floor—don’t hurt either. Attending a dinner or fundraiser nearby? Cap the night with a cocktail and bites from The National’s sophisticated bar menu until 12 am on Thursdays and 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Dinner

tredici NORTH, Purchase

When tredici NORTH opened in Purchase this past winter, the county welcomed a new hotspot with Manhattan style and flare just a short drive from the White Plains business district. When it’s time for serious wining and dining, charm clients with craft cocktails at the chic, gold-lit bar, then sit down to “Angry Lobster,” with Meyer lemon, white wine, and red chile; or Kobe beef ravioli, with dark chocolate, fontina, and brown butter. To talk shop in private, book the swanky private dining room, with seating for up to 16 people. The chef can also customize special menus, including whole roast suckling pig or a vintage duck à l’orange, paired with wine or (for a more modern approach) cocktails.

18 Holes

Pound Ridge Golf Club, Pound Ridge

Treat clients to a round at the only course in New York designed by legendary golf-course architect Pete Dye. A peak-time foursome will set you back $860 (chump change compared with the contract you’re hoping to sign!) but includes cart, unlimited range privileges, and the kind of truly spectacular golf experience that only the guy who created the island green at TPC Sawgrass can provide. A full bentgrass facility, Pound Ridge GC is hewn from 172 acres of magnificent cliffs, streams, and wooded hills; dramatic rock formations are also part of the scenery. After the round, you can enjoy pub food in the Pound Ridge GC restaurant, or, to really impress, grab a quick shower and head up the road to The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges.  —Dave Donelson

High-Rolling Entertainment

Empire City Casino, Yonkers

Instead of smooth-talking your latest investor into opening their wallet, let the rush of winning big at Empire City Casino do the talking for you. After a long day of meetings, place your bets for live harness racing (post time is 7:10 pm four days a week). Then, head inside and hit the slot machines or slam down a board-of-directors-worthy wager at one of the blackjack or roulette tables. Afterward, celebrate your wins (or drown your losses) with drinks on one of the red-velvet couches at Alley 810, the casino’s chandeliered, high-end bar, which features two vintage bowling alleys.

A successful business trip starts with sumptuous accommodations.

The Opus, Westchester, White Plains

Conveniently located in the White Plains business district, you can’t go wrong by putting a client up at The Opus, née Ritz. With its sweeping high-rise views, luxurious spa, get-you-anything concierge service, and showstopping presidential suite, it’s the perfect escape after a trying road trip.

Castle Hotel & Spa, Tarrytown

While the exterior of this castle on the Hudson screams old-world luxury, newly renovated rooms boast modern amenities like complimentary WiFi, iPod docks, and Bose sound systems. The property is also home to an award-winning restaurant (and proximate to Tarrytown’s trendy dining scene), and the THANN Sanctuary Spa.

Radisson New Rochelle, New Rochelle

The guest rooms at this hotel, just a short distance from New Rochelle’s burgeoning downtown area, recently underwent a stylish renovation. If that’s not enough, there’s also a dedicated corporate tower, and the lobby is home to NoMa Social, a swanky tapas lounge and bar that’s open late on weekends.
