Admittedly, it was a precarious placement, hidden away in Scarsdale proper’s windy, compact shopping district. But I’d had high hopes for Space NK, the high-gloss, London-based “apothecary” peddling the rarest of fine skincare lines, from bespoke makers in France and Japan; artists’-favorite cosmetics, including hard-to-find Kevyn Aucoin; and crowd pleasers like Diptyque, Clarisonic, and Darphin.
Surely, I did not expect the one-year-old shop to close its doors so soon (March 29, to be exact). While the prices were prohibitive for the average beauty buyer, it was, for the dedicated self-esthetician, a treat-yourself kind of place, where discovering the latest and best was nearly guaranteed. Sniff.
Here’s the announcement, pulled from the Grim Reaper of an email blast:
The silver lining? Abandoned loyalists can visit a version of the store, and its thoughtfully culled merch, at Bloomindale’s in White Plains, or in New Canaan, CT.
