Safe Choice Security ranked 29 of New York’s safest cities, and 17 of Westchester’s municipalities are on the list—including the top spot.
Safe Choice analyzed 2012’s FCI Crime Statistics report and ranked towns by both violent and property crimes.
Briarcliff Manor was ranked number one “safest city” in New York with 0 violent crimes and 1.76 property cimes per 1,000 people. Safe Choice notes Briarcliff Manor’s “exceptional police department” and various safety programs throughout the town.
The county has 12 cities in the top 20, five among the top ten, and two among the top five.
Other Westchester towns included in the ranking are Pleasantville (No. 4), Rye Brook (No. 7), Bronxville (No. 8), Harrison (No. 10), Tarrytown (No. 11), Scarsdale (No. 12), Croton-on-Hudson (No. 13), Mamaroneck (No. 14), Sleepy Hollow (No. 16), Hastings-on-Hudson (No. 17), Rye (No. 19), Peekskill (No. 22), Dobbs Ferry (No. 24), Eastchester (No. 25), Mount Kisco (No. 27), and Ossining (No. 28).
