Brendan Carroll, 29 & Doug Cedrone, 29

Opening a bar after graduation is an idea that crosses the minds of most college-age guys — and it’s how Beer Noggin got started. In 2011, recent grads Doug Cedrone (right) and Brendan Carroll (left) were working in government and banking, respectively, when they saw business potential in the growing craft-beer movement. In 2015, they opened Beer Noggin in Bronxville, a taproom with 12 draft lines, more than 200 beers by the bottle/can, and an individualized approach to customer service. Since opening, the store has seen steady revenue growth — including 22 percent last year — and an expansion of its customer base from serious beer geeks to a mainstream clientele. Last year, the pair joined the planning committee for Hudson Valley Craft Beer Week, which promotes the region’s breweries and beer-centric businesses. Next up? Cedrone and Carroll are looking at locations for a second Westchester store, with plans to expand the brand further in the next five years. “The [craft-beer] wave hasn’t crested. There’s so much room for growth,” says Cedrone.
