Brad Tilley made short work of Justin Lane to win the 101st Westchester Amateur title at Knollwood Country Club. His 6 & 4 victory marked a reprise of the title he won in 2005. He also reached the final round in 2017.
Lane started the match with a win on the first hole, but Tilley came back to tie it on the second and never looked back. He birdied the fourth, fifth, and ninth holes and put it away with three threes on holes number 12, 13, and 14.
Justin Lane, of Woodstock GC, advanced to the quarterfinal round last year at Winged Foot and won the Woodstock Open as an amateur at his home club in 2019. He defeated GlenArbor’s James McHugh 2 & 1 to make the final match against Tilley, who defeated Nathan Han by the same score in his semi-final round.
Tilley’s season had already started strong when he reached the semifinals of the Connecticut Amateur just a couple of weeks earlier. He hopes to continue his momentum from fall of last year when he won the NYSGA, WGA and MGA Mid-Amateur titles in a span of 10 days.
