From stylish salons to full-body wellness treatments, these local health and body spots help locals feel their best.
New Hair Salon
Giselle Elissa Salon
In a convenient location on Yonkers Avenue — with a parking lot (a unicorn in our biggest city), this new spot is headed by the talented Giselle Macri, a NYC-trained stylist with more than a decade of experience styling models, actors, and news anchors. To curly-haired Westchesterites: Macri is a specialist.
Triple Antioxidant Cream at Euro Laser Services
Rye’s mainstay for laser hair removal and facials offers an eponymous private skincare label, and its moisturizer is a must-have. Packed with antioxidants like resveratrol (the antioxidant found in red wine), caffeine, and polyphenol isolates (found in green tea), this tried-and-true powerhouse moisturizer guards against free-radical damage, reduces redness, and improves skin texture and tone.
CBD Beauty Products
Come Back Daily
Last year, Steven Phan and Waseem Ghattas opened Westchester’s first location of the New York City-based Come Back Daily to educate and share with the county the benefits of CBD (the non-psychoactive cannabis derivative). The shop provides an upscale educational experience and offers high-quality and luxurious CBD-infused products for the beauty buff, like face masks, balms, and toners.
Innovative Beauty Concept
Hair Saloon & Café
Owner Danielle Settembre’s unique idea for this new Scarsdale spot is to “Come for the haircut; stay for the cocktails.” The location includes a luxe full-service hair salon and spa, and a café that serves craft coffee and bites, so you can relax and enjoy an espresso or martini while having a top-quality stylist tend to your locks. Outdoor saloon services available, weather-permitting.
DiamondGlow Facial at Skin & Laser Lounge
Glowing skin? I’m in. The quaint Skin & Laser Lounge, which opened right before the pandemic, offers myriad skincare treatments, and its DiamondGlow facial is a standout. Similar to the celebrity-favorite HydraFacial, this rendition uses a general dermabrasion device that removes the top layer of the skin and infuses serums into the skin for a shiny glow that can last for days.
Pop-Up Fitness Classes
Get ready to get shredded and reveal the healthiest version of yourself, inside and out. Alina Pedraza, who had transitioned her Jefferson Valley-based fitness biz to an online model due to COVID, offers pop-up classes, and the workouts are as empowering as ever. Check her website and social media for classes. Her new brick-and-mortar space is located in Peekskill.
New Med Spa
If you’re looking to turn back the clock or merely make a cosmetic tweak, head to NYC-based BeautyFix MedSpa, which opened its first Westchester location, in Larchmont, this past year with a myriad of services, including fillers, Botox, laser hair removal, and facials.
Brushed Up Studio
Unlike many other nail salons in Westchester, Brushed Up Studio offers clients an appointment-only experience in a Boho-themed space with excellent service. Owner Natasha Wood stays up-to-date on current trends and is adamant about using only nontoxic gels. Can’t commit to a full hand’s worth of art? Stop in for just an accent nail in either a simple or complex design.
Laser Hair Removal
Bare Skin & Laser
Standing out in Westchester’s crowded laser-hair-removal field is no easy feat — and Bare Skin & Laser has been doing just that since 2012. From the impeccably clean and stylish interior (with full COVID safety protocols in place) to the talented staff of aestheticians and laser specialists, there’s lots to love. Owner and founder Laura Giardullo knows the business in and out and takes plenty of time to explain all services, to make clients comfortable.
Organic Skincare Line
The coveted “JLo Glow” meets its match in baobab oil, the powerhouse glow giver in skincare by Mama Faye from Senegal, who is glow personified. She may intuit your need for hibiscus and rosewater cleanser, Magic Neck cream, aromatherapy massage oil — or a lidded basket from Senegal, as the boutique carries exquisite crafts, linens, and jewelry, as well as natural cosmetics.
Oasis Day Spa
A head-to-toe glow is a given after even just one visit to this chic Rivertown spa, where nourishing, purifying, and pampering body scrubs and wraps complement an extensive menu of rejuvenating, brightening, tightening, and lifting facials from anti-aging pro-collagen and blemish control treatments to services involving oxygen and antioxidant infusion, light therapy, microdermabrasion, glycolic peels, and so much more.
Binghui Guan, EastWest Healing Arts & Acupuncture, LLC
Soft-spoken, gentle, warm, intuitive, and well versed in acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and all manner of alternative therapies, Guan, a native of China, is also patient, professional, experienced, and skilled at her craft. She practices with ease and puts her patients at ease, healing the hurt, whether it’s physical, mental, or emotional.
Spa Chiara Wellness Center
Staffed by aestheticians and plastic and cosmetic surgeons, this full-service center for skin tackles any and all ailments, including those caused by acne, sun damage, scarring, pigmentation, and plain old aging. Utilizing microdermabrasion, peels, and laser-skin-resurfacing procedures, along with mini and micro plastic surgery and full-on facelifts, the skin you’re in is changed at the cellular level, with cutting-edge regimens and advanced technology.
Philip Charles Faulkner, Style Director at Static Hair Salon
Now in his 12th year at Static, a fashionable hair salon in Downtown White Plains, Philip Faulkner is a talented stylist with a warm, friendly approach, and fun, flamboyant attitude. He works his magic on his clients, transforming lackluster locks into chic, lived-in styles, ensuring they walk out feeling like a million dollars every time.
Tuckahoe This is where down-county ladies (and gents) come when in need of a perfect pedicure, along with some serious sole soothing. The regular, standard-priced pedi is reminiscent of a luxurious spa treatment, with extra indulgences rotated in gratis, like hot-stone calf massages on one visit, paraffins on the next, and scented sole soaks every time.
