For our first annual ranking of the Best Places to Work in Westchester, it’s not surprising that Kings Capital took the crown. The Tarrytown-based construction company attributes its success to the strong relationships built among its team and partners. “We know relationships are our business,” says CEO J.D. Summa. “It is critical that we create value for everyone along the way.” The company hosts employee social events, such as summer happy hours, a summer barbecue, and a holiday party. More notably, the firm is the only one on our list to offer its employees subsidized full-time or part-time childcare and backup child or elder care to employees if their caregiver suddenly becomes unavailable. Through these commitments, Kings Capital is continually recognizing its workers as an essential part of their royal family and treating them accordingly.

This shooting-star local law firm has many reasons to pat itself on the back. Not only is it one of the premier litigation firms in the county; it’s also one of the few that is 100% woman-owned. In the past two years, Fullerton Beck has branched out to two new states, adding offices in both New Jersey and Connecticut. One of Fullerton Beck’s more unique features is how it approaches human fallibility among its staff. Rather than demean, finger-point, or punish, the firm treats mistakes as teachable moments and a genuine opportunity to improve performance through professional nurturing and support. The compassionate mentality, potluck holiday parties with gift exchanges, summer picnics and baseball games, catered breakfasts, and ice-cream-truck Thursdays are just some of the things Fullerton Beck staff say they love about their company.
