These Westchester County High Schools Are the Best in New York

Neighborhood ranking website Niche released its lists of the top public and private high schools (and districts) in New York. Guess who’s on top.

Ratings website Niche has released its 2022 lists of the best high schools in New York State and, for yet another year in a row, Westchester County can lay claim to quite a few of the top spots.

Top Private High Schools

#7 – Rye Country Day School, Rye (The first listed school outside of the five boroughs, and the only one in the top 10.)
#13 – Hackley School, Tarrytown
#16 – French-American School of New York, Mamaroneck
#24 – The Masters School, Dobbs Ferry

Top Public Schools

#12 – Scarsdale Senior High School, Scarsdale Union Free School District
#18 – Horace Greeley High School, Chappaqua Central School District
#19 – Pelham Memorial High School, Pelham Union Free School District
#20 – Bronxville High School, Bronxville Union Free School District
#21 – Rye High School, Rye City School District
#31 – Byram Hills High School, Byram Hills Central School District
#34Edgemont Junior/Senior High School, Edgemont Union Free School District
#37 – John Jay High School, Katonah-Lewisboro Union Free School District

All of the above schools received an A+ overall rating from Niche, weighing statistics and even reviews from current and former students. A total of 94,491 public schools, 2,489 private institutions, and 11,846 school districts were weighed throughout the nation to crunch these numbers. Rye Country Day, which placed seventh for private high schools in New York State, also placed 25th in the country (and eighth for K-12 schools), putting it in the upper 0.05% of all schools!

With so many Westchester schools at the top of all state facilities, a look at New York’s top 25 school districts won’t be particularly surprising:

#10 – Chappaqua Central School District, Chappaqua
#12 – Byram Hills Central School District, Armonk

#21 – Edgemont Union Free School District, Scarsdale

Yes, Westchester County accounts for a full third of all the best school districts in all of New York.
