Yes, it’s large here—and often boisterous—but the open space is made more intimate by the choice of two bars, one upstairs and one down, as well as the glow of three fireplaces (fake but fundamental in upping the hospitable factor). At its heart, The Rye Bar & Grill is a neighborhood pub, albeit a flashier two-story one than it had been before its renovation years ago. Still, whether you prefer the “old” or the “new,” the bottom line remains this: It’s the ideal crowd pleaser, a casual drinker’s answer to where to meet when you have no idea where to go.
