If you’ve not been to Broken Bow Brewery in Tuckahoe, a family-owned microbrewery in a former tile manufacturing plant, you’ve been missing out. And if you’re one of those people, like myself, who is occasionally accused of sitting around eating bonbons, their International Stout Day beer and bonbon pairing on Saturday, November 8, from 4 to 6 pm, is made for you. Glennmade Confections of Hoboken, NJ, will be there with their dark chocolate bonbons, four of which will be paired with a flight of four Broken Bow stouts. (Additional bonbons will be for sale, and the wise will bring their growlers.) And bonbon eaters, Glennmade’s precise definition of “bonbon” lends some dignity to your pursuit: “a chocolate confection which has an outer shell (in most cases for Glennmade Confections the outer shell is 55 percent dark chocolate) and has a smooth, flavorful ganache filling inside with a unique flavor profile.” To reserve your favorite bonbon flavors and styles ahead of time, check Broken Bow’s website for updates.
