Designer Alexandra Thompson, a Bedford native, was packing for her 10-day honeymoon to the Greek islands two years ago when she discovered just how difficult it was to find stylish, reasonably priced, warm-weather fashions that wouldn’t end up all wrinkled by the time she arrived at her destination. “I saw a niche in the market for easy-to-pack, simple silhouettes under two hundred dollars each,” says the Parsons The New School for Design graduate. Drawing upon her years at Lilly Pulitzer and J. Crew, Thompson decided to launch a modern fashion and accessories collection that debuted this past spring.
The Persifor line—the name honors her gandfather, Persifor Frazer Smith IV, whose unique sense of style Thompson credits as influencing her own—features fresh and colorful summer dresses and a pencil skirt. Dresses—which include tank, one-shoulder, and three-quarter-length-sleeve silhouettes—top out at $188; the pencil skirt is $198. The collection is available at Bubble & Tweet in Bedford and Rye.
