2 Terrific New Treatments

    For Your Tootsies

Water-free Pedi

If you’re a little leery of soaking your feet in a maybe less-than-sterile whirlpool bath (those spray disinfectants don’t clean the jets where the water circulates), have we got some news for you: there’s a new water-free pedi debuting this month at Static Salon, 180 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains (914) 997-2600; www.statichair.com.

With 20 years of nail experience, Maritza Mendez knows a thing or two about pedicures. “Oil hydrates better than water,” she says. “So we wrap your feet in tea tree oil-infused hot towels to soften them rather than soaking them in a bath. It’s more sanitary than water and there are no germs.” Then the feet are bagged in plastic and covered with warming booties that help the oil penetrate the skin. After your toes are baby soft, Mendez will take the old polish off, trim, shape, and repolish. Her pedicures are said to last a month. $85 and up.

Tickled Feet

Dermacare, the latest laser and skin-care center in White Plains, has a new foot-care treatment that takes its cue from facial treatments. We know how alpha-hydroxy peels and microdermabrasion leave our skin ultra smooth and soft; who knew it could do the same for our tired, calloused feet?

“We start by soaking feet in a tea tree oil-and-water solution in a stainless-steel basin, so there is no chance of bacteria or fungus,” says Barbara Campos, medical aesthetician and laser technician who developed the treatment. “Then we massage an alpha-hydroxy-based mask onto the feet to soften and exfoliate dead cells, which are removed with warm towels. A second peel is brushed on with a sable fan-shaped brush—it tickles a little—and then a bacterial gel is applied to help fight bacteria and prevent dead cells from accumulating.” The Tickled Feet treatment is $150; you can add microdermabrasion to the treatment for an additional  $45. For the ultimate experience, ask for Nathania Bernadin’s reflexology/aromatherapy/energy treatment for just $45.  Her magic fingers will do wonders for your soles and your soul.
