A multi-time Best of Westchester winner, Mano A Mano (Italian for “hand to hand”) seems an apropos moniker given the store’s stirring collection of Mary Rose Young hand-sculpted, hand-painted designs. But owner Mario Grosso has a hand in other unique picks, as well, including two rooms devoted entirely to MacKenzie-Childs pottery and furniture, colorful crystal chandeliers, Vietri Italian dinnerware, and the Brillante collection from Mariposa (which are engravable).

At Land
Revel in a slice of riverside chic at this Dobbs Ferry hotspot housed on the ground-level of a former printers’ building-turned-loft space. Owner Melissa Lauprete stocks trendy minimalist clothing and accessories, beauty products, and home goods from hard-to-find brands, curated with her eye for items that are thoughtful in terms of “design, function, health, and efficacy.”

Dedicated to up-and-coming designers from around the world whose pieces are not sold or featured in the immediate area, this carefully considered lifestyle boutique sells timeless merch with a bit of edge. House of 29 is a women-owned three-generation family business that carries stylish items for women of all ages, with every item tried on by either proprietor Sarah M. David, her sister Lily H. Mass, or mother Arlene R. Mass before it is stocked by the shop. Ask about the Nora Kogan enamel lip cuffs, inspired by Man Ray’s Surrealist painting.

This upscale boutique showcases appealing alternatives to ho-hum department-store fare with its charming mix of sweet baby gifts and cool-yet-classic kids’ fashions. Your “little dogies” will really git along at this cool-as-hell custom-boot shop on Huguenot Street in NewRo. Offering boots, hats, belts, and accessories for both men and women, the hook here is that nearly everything stocked boasts a sultry Tex-Mex spin, making it pretty much one-of-a-kind in these here parts. So, if you love pulling yourself up by the bootstraps and doing your bidness in Westchester, The Little Ranch Western Wear is a must-visit.

SoulCycle buddies-turned-fashion retailers Abbey Solomon and Marcy Berman-Goldstein opened their store in 2017, which features on-trend clothing, jewelry, and accessories from women-owned businesses. The fun and trendy shop offers merch at every price point, and fashionistas with a heart can shop at one of their many charity events throughout the year, where a percentage of sales goes to local nonprofits that benefit women. The shop also hosts events that focus on self-acceptance and female empowerment.

Gayle Martin and husband/wine importer Michael Riahi are true turophiles — the latter being a Certified Cheese Professional, one of fewer than 900 in North America and Europe to have earned that distinction.
