Westchester County Models Share Their Favorite Hair-Care Secrets and Products

Local models share their hair-care secrets

1 Model, actress, singer, and Miss New York contender Danielle Ricci has “tried everything” on her hair. She has two favorite products: “I love Moroccan Oil. It keeps the natural body in, even after a blow-dry and straightening session. After showering, towel-dry your hair, put a dime-size amount in your hands, rub through your hair, and let it sit for five minutes before you blow-dry. To keep my hair from curling when the humidity hits, I use Bumble and bumble brilliantine cream—it’s brilliant!”

2You’ve seen gray-haired beauty Cindy Joseph in the pages of O, The Oprah Magazine and More magazine and in ads for Olay, Target, Macy’s, and others.  “I use Sense shampoo and conditioner by USANA (shop.usana.com). I have very fine hair and the conditioner makes my hair soft and tangle-free without weighing it down. Sense shampoo is gentle and can be used daily on my oily scalp with no damage to my hair. I like a cut that allows me to just wash and wear. However, before an audition, I will use Conair curling irons and Mason Pearson brushes for a more controlled, yet natural, look.”

3Not surprisingly, Cindy Joseph’s daughter, Julia, has followed in her mom’s footsteps and has worked with Ford and Innovative Artists in New York and Wondercast in Hamburg, Germany. While she is currently in Europe modeling in a Nivea campaign, she took time to share her faves.  “I have fine hair that tends to be dry on the ends and oily at the roots. Klorane dry shampoo gives my hair texture and volume and makes it so I don’t have to wash every day. I’ve used a lot of dry shampoos and this one is the best! I also love Frédéric Fekkai Shea Butter shampoo and conditioner: it helps nourish my hair and feels and smells amazing!”

4Former model (with Click and Names agencies) and actress (Spenser: For Hire, The Last Warrior) Maria Holvoe is a minimalist. “I have learned that the older we get, the less we need: hugs, big smiles, and a Mason Pearson brush will take me anywhere I want to go.”
