The 2 New Beauty Business Bringing Their Cult-Like Followings to Rye

To appease cult-like followings, two beauty experts open new stores.

While the new rage in the hair industry is to be hyper-focused (blow-dry bars are popping up all over the county), Cynthia Petfield maintains that you really can do it all.

Petfield, who previously owned C&G Hair Salon in Larchmont, opened Reveal Hair Studio in Rye (269 Purchase St) this past August to serve her longtime devoted and new clientele. A full-service salon, Reveal offers cut, color, blowouts, extensions, keratin treatments, and Petfield’s specialty, balayage.

The location is adjacent to a free parking lot (a unicorn in Rye), with windows lining the front wall for a bright and airy feel, and a chic, intimate interior. Christophe Robin products are used (Petfield says Reveal is the only Westchester salon to offer them) and a blowout membership is available — unlimited blowouts per month for $120. Best part: a friendly and knowledgeable staff, ready to make you look and feel your best.

At 85 Purchase Street, Megan Ryan opened a second location of her burgeoning eyelash-extension empire, Meg-a-Lashes, just last month. Ryan, who originally started her business in her friend’s blow-dry bar in White Plains, has experienced meteoric success after opening her first brick-and-mortar location, in White Plains, in 2012.

While the eyelash extension fad has now exploded, Ryan began studying the art of lashing more than a decade ago, after getting hooked on them herself. With her new location, she is tapping into a new clientele witin the niche market.
