This petite boutique, co-owned by FIT grad and Port Chester native Gady Alcantara and Monica Estevez, a Madrid-based jewelry designer, focuses exclusively on European clothing and accessories that Estevez scouts in Spain, Italy, and France. “Many of our pieces are truly one of a kind,” says Alcantara. “You won’t find them at the mall.” The mix includes sexy party dresses, fresh daywear tunics, funky hats, leggings, and an array of gloves. We spotted slinky cocktail dresses from Jooo of Italy ($180), a black lace-trimmed tweed coat by Jaune Rouge of France ($250), and a fun collection of unique headpieces (“They’re like mini-hats”), sporting feathers, bows, and gemstones.
Horse Tales

With a degree in merchandising management and a passion for horses—she’s been riding for about 30 years—Goldens Bridge resident Robin Scovotti saw the need for a local equestrian shop while trying to outfit her own horse-loving 17-year-old daughter. Ergo, Horse Tales. You’ll find boots ($100 to $900) and breeches ($200) by Ariat and tights and shirts by Kerrits ($50 to $100) as well as jackets from RJ Classics ($200 to $300) and Marigold ($450). Belts, jewelry, and a children’s section offering Horse Zens show apparel round out the merchandise selection.

Wall Street veteran Yulia Omelich draws upon her background in high finance in launching this specialty boutique focusing on current and previous collections from such luxury classics as Chanel, Hermes, Prada, and Dior. “Fashion can be a very intelligent capital investment,” Omelich says. “Timeless pieces appreciate year after year.” Recent offerings include limited-edition purses including a Lady Dior tote in cherry red ($1,950) and a Prada satchel-style bag ($600), but the specialty of the shop is its extensive selection of Chanel, both new and collectors’ pieces. Also showcased is an exclusive collection of Omelich’s own designs.
Ruthayn’s Boutique

The former Shoetique, a shoe and handbag store, recently re-opened as Ruthayn’s Boutique, widening its focus to include (mostly American-label) women’s fashions. “Once the economy plunged,” says owner Ruthayn Sgaglio, “women were no longer buying shoes the way they used to.” So now, in addition to Sam Edelman’s trendy ballet flats and booties ($98 to $175) and handbags by Big Buddha and MZ Wallace, expect “reasonably priced, comfortable, but very stylish clothing” like tunics, leggings, Curve Jeans with built-in shape-wear ($89), and 525 America cotton sweaters ($49 to $179). “It’s clothing in the latest trends for a woman with a real body,” Sgaglio says.
