In the heart of Larchmont, Mamaroneck resident Lauren Tormenta opened an eponymous boutique this past fall. Lauren’s Boutique (10 Chatsworth Ave) offers on-trend women’s and children’s apparel, outerwear, shoes, and accessories. Inventory like silky shirts, faux-fur coats, embellished headbands, lingerie, and platform kicks fill the spot. Products are by national and local brands (most of the jewelry is made by Westchester entrepreneurs). Tormenta, an FIT grad and designer, also stocks pieces from her own label, Lauren Tormenta New York (her collection includes dresses and faux-fur coats).
Tormenta had always wanted to open a shop to showcase her line, intending to launch it before the pandemic; then COVID-19 forced stores to shutter. In October, after retail shops began opening again, she decided the time had come. “A lot of local people want to shop small and don’t really want to go to the mall,” she says. “[Shopping at Lauren’s Boutique] is a personal experience. I carry unique items that you can’t find in a department store.”
