Jon Bresler’s passion for fragrance stems from his Westchester roots. The Chappaqua native grew up on five acres of land, and was responsible for his family’s herb and vegetable garden. This is where his love for fresh smells first began, and so, the idea of LAFCO Scented Candles was born.
“I particularly liked juniper, and have since used it in my fragrance developments,” says Bresler. “In particular, the John Derian candle. This is a reminder of my upbringing and the scents I smelled every day in the garden.”
After parting ways with his Chappaqua home, Bresler spent time in Switzerland where he became accustomed to the aromatherapy traditions in Europe. He built LAFCO on the foundation of these practices.
“My mission for LAFCO was to introduce the American market to natural home fragrance products and remedial beneficial botanical body care,” explains Bresler.
Bresler teamed up with renowned tastemaker and designer John Derian to create their newest candle, The Scent, and pay homage to his roots.
Made with natural essential oils that provide a highly-concentrated scent, the solid soy wax candle is 100 percent non-toxic. Each candle is hand-poured in the US, and placed in a hand-blown art vessel.
The spring-ready scent is a rich, floral incense. A blend of natural wildflowers; lavender, violet, jasmine, heliotrope, neroli, and currant blossoms set on top of a classic resin base of Agar Wood, laburnum, sandalwood, patchouli, musk, and frankincense.
Found in shops around Westchester, you can indulge in the scent yourself at Breeze, Chappaqua; Eiluj Ltd, Katonah; Pink on Palmer, Larchmont; Rye Beach Pharmacy, Rye; and Porch, Mount Kisco.

All vessels are reusable and recyclable.
