Certain brands gain such ubiquity that their name can become a catch-all for the generic product: Band-Aid, Kleenex, and recently CrossFit.
Though often imitated, CrossFit bills itself more as a lifestyle than a workout: exercises include elements of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), yes, but also weightlifting, calisthenics, gymnastics, and more while customizing to each practitioner’s abilities and goals. Add to that a focus on low-carb/zero-sugar nutrition, and the whole-body approach becomes apparent.
If you’re looking to get into the lifestyle, here are all the official CrossFit gyms available to you here in Westchester County.
54 Miller Rd, Baldwin Pl
Westchester’s northernmost affiliate is a bit light on its website but you can still check the Workout of the Day (WOD), class schedule, and leaderboards, so what more do you really need? The gym itself has everything you need when it comes to fitness, with five to six daily classes on weekends, plus daily kids’ classes, yoga classes, and open houses.
2050 East main St, Cortlandt Manor
Opened in 2013, this spot offers multiple levels of memberships, as well as one-on-one training and even a free trial for those just testing out the water. Around 10 CrossFit and open gym sessions are available on weekdays, with two on weekend days (including a teens program).
8 John Walsh Blvd, Peekskill
Just a few miles down the road, Peekskill’s own branded gym offers eight to nine daily weekday workouts — including WOD, open gym hours, and themed sessions — as well as three WOD and open sessions on Saturdays and two on Sundays.
52A Babbitt Rd, Bedford Hills
In 2013, owner Michael MacDowell left his corporate job to open this Bedford location. The team of dedicated coaches offers six weekday WOD classes, as well as two on Saturdays with an endurance session, and endurance plus Olympic weightlifting class on Sundays.
25 Hubbels Dr, Mount Kisco
This CrossFit gym won a Best of Westchester in 2017 shortly after moving into its current location, and offers around a half-dozen classes each weekday and two classes on Saturdays and Sundays, while also engaging in community events like their Summer Games and the Kisco 5K.
136 Radio Circle Dr, Mount Kisco
An offshoot of Immortal’s Pleasantville location, this affiliate gym features both basic HIIT classes and their own branded F2IT classes — three each on weekdays and two F2IT classes on Saturdays, with cardio-focused Sunday sessions.
565 North State Rd, Briarcliff Manor
Finally, a CrossFit gym that caters to our hatred for Westchester being considered “upstate.” With seven CrossFit classes each weekday and two on Saturdays, plus kids’ classes, weightlifting sessions, and cardio hours, this location offers a good balance of activities across age groups and ability levels (Despite some of us being Crossfit newbies, we got a great workout in without feeling crippled when we went for a drop-in this past summer).
343 Manville Rd, Pleasantville
Immortal’s original location, CrossFitters here can enjoy eight to ten weekday classes with a triple F2IT block on Saturdays and cardio plus open gym on Sundays. Coach Tommy Carter personally won multiple Best of Westchester awards, putting his team on top-tier status.
174 Brady Ave, Hawthorne
NorthEast’s Hawthorne location offers seven to nine lifting, express, CrossFit, and open gym sessions each weekday and three on weekend days. The location also offers one-on-one nutritional counseling, body composition and metabolic analysis, to get you maximum results from your training.
8 Vreeland Ave, Elmsford
Another CrossFit gym where we had an insane training session is CrossFit Valkryie. Valkyrie typically holds between seven to nine weekday classes, with open gym on Sundays and CrossFit and bootcamp-style classes on Saturdays. Bonus: Excellent tunage.
280 Ferris Ave, White Plains
With two Westchester locations, there is no excuse to skip class. The White Plains ESC boasts nine sessions on Monday and Wednesday, seven on Tuesday and Thursday, eight on Friday, and three on Saturday. (Sunday is rest day!)
300 Hamilton Ave, White Plains
This centrally located 5,000 square foot facility is just a couple blocks from the train station, perfect for busy commuters. Hosting as many as a dozen daily classes in CrossFit, endurance training, weightlifting, gymnastics, kids’ programs and more, there’s something for everyone whether you’re a drop-in or a regular.
145 Palisades St, Dobbs Ferry
Bravo just celebrated its 10-year anniversary this summer. Touting a low-stress, drama-free atmosphere and ever-helpful trainers, members and guests can sign up for four to six weekday class slots, plus an intermediate/advanced class on Saturdays and two hours of open gym on Sundays. They also post their Spotify channel right on their website, to jam out during home workouts, or just on the couch.
5 Plain Ave, New Rochelle
This 8,000 square foot gym in New Rochelle offers up to seven daily sessions of CrossFit or open gym Monday through Thursday, five on Fridays, three on Saturdays and one open gym session on Sundays. Additional classes include the Barbell Club, gymnastics, and Sports Performance, plus customized group and personal training sessions.
580 North Ave, New Rochelle
Nearby, CrossFit POP (“Pursuit of Perfection”) typically sports between five and nine classes on Monday through Saturday, with open gym on Sunday. Classes include Standard, teen, and kid-oriented sessions, as well as a weekly mobility-focused WOD. Opened in 2013, this gym has been a favorite of students due to its proximity to Iona College.
300 Waverly Ave, Mamaroneck
The Mamaroneck location of ESC offers nine CrossFit sessions Monday through Wednesday, seven on Thursday and Friday, four on Saturday, and two (advanced and fundamentals) plus an open gym on Sundays.
145 Boston Post Rd, Port Chester
Opened in 2011, CFPC is open daily, with about 40 classes offered weekly, including yoga and open gym sessions. Fundamentals classes are great for beginners. First-timers can even take one trial class for free to see if the CrossFit lifestyle is for them.
625 Fifth Ave, Pelham
Better known as “TBB,” this Southerly stable of CrossFit has been open since 2014 and offers classes for children, boxing and kickboxing, bodybuilding, and cardio. Around 15 classes are offered daily Monday through Friday, plus six on Saturdays and one on Sundays.
271 Main St, Eastchester
NorthEast’s second location offers 10-20 lifting, express, CrossFit, and open gym sessions each weekday, plus four to five each day on the weekends. As it does in Hawthorne, this gym offers one-on-one nutritional counseling, and body composition and metabolic analysis.
506 N Macquesten Pkwy, Mount Vernon
Another long-serving county gym, Gotham holds two early-morning and a noon session Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Friday, plus three more every afternoon and evening during the week, and two on Saturdays. There’s also a bonus gForce workout every evening Monday through Thursday, and one in the late morning on Saturdays.
16 Tuckahoe Rd, Yonkers
Since 2014, this Yonkers spot has offered locals personal training, as well as seven weekday classes (three in the morning and four in the evening); four on Saturdays (two in the morning and two advanced classes starting at 11 a.m. and noon). Closed on Sundays.
