Elevate Your Wardrobe With This Feel-Good, Locally Handmade Jewelry Line

Jewelry that not only looks good, but also makes you feel good is a unique find. Chappaqua’s Pam Moskowitz has spent the majority of her life making people feel good, as a social worker and a mom. After raising three children, she decided to create a business, revolving around her childhood hobby, beading.

With support from family and friends, she began beading again in 2016, and created an Etsy shop, which later grew to become her brand, 100PercentBeads.

“It happened very organically and [now] I jump out of bed every single day,” explains Moskowitz. The brand offers handmade, beaded bracelets and necklaces made from precious and semi-precious, never-dyed and all-natural stones. Her versatile and colorful collection includes long necklaces, chokers, bracelets, pearls, and pendants, ranging from $25-$150. Moskowitz chose the brand name because she believes you have to put 100 percent of yourself into everything you do.

“[The brand] seems to really meet a niche here,” says Moskowitz. “I think Westchester clients like to accessorize. The women in Westchester take really good care of themselves. They care about their friends and they want to be able to pick something up as a gift, as a little extra ‘I was thinking about you,’ and beads meet that.”

Moskowitz, who learned the craft from her mother, explains that customers appreciate the timeless and ageless qualities of her beads and say that often others ask to borrow their pieces. “When a customer says to me ‘My friend would love this!’ What’s better than that?” Moskowitz loves hearing her clients say that the beads feel good physically against their skin or that their jewelry box is filled with 100PercentBeads exclusively.

Through her beading, Moskowitz says she has the opportunity to help customers feel confident and, in turn, she offers women and men the chance to spread that feel-good energy to others. Moskowitz’s suppliers follow internationally recognized labor, trade, and environmental standards, helping customers feel good about their purchase.

“As a social worker, I’m a giver, I’m a doer, I’m a helper. To transition into a business is an everyday challenge for me. I just want to give to everybody — and that’s not a business.” She explains, “I love to bring joy and that is my core. It makes me feel so good that people love what I make.” Her most popular pieces are her chokers and color block wrap necklaces that can be turned into bracelets.

100PercentBeads can be purchased online and is sold at retailers including LV2BFIT in Rye Brook, Havana Jeans in Rye, Rocks by Jolie B. Ray in Armonk, and at Thornwood’s The Pilates Line. Moskowitz also hosts occasional trunk shows and pop-up shops which are announced on her website.
