Popping over to Greenwich? Stop by the Gilles Clement Gallery to check out this David Datuna piece in honor of Valentine’s Day.

New York City-based artist David Datuna is best known for his creations, which incorporate optical lenses, especially over large-scale, layered, collaged, and painted images. The mixed-media palette of Heart includes newspaper articles, magazine clippings, and paint — an optical illusion best appreciated up close, in person, at Gilles Clement Gallery in Greenwich. According to Datuna, whose work is often a political and cultural expression, “The prismatic surface [of his mixed-media art] both hides and reveals the work below, while the lenses symbolize individual identity, illusion, perception, fragmentation, and unification.”
