Babo Botanicals was born out of a former executive-turned-mom’s quest to provide the most natural and organic hair- and body-care products for her children without sacrificing premium quality. Scarsdale resident Kate Solomon, a Harvard graduate with an MBA from Northwestern, left her job working with the likes of L’Oréal, Givenchy, and Avon when her first child was born. She soon discovered that most baby “grooming” products were long on chemicals and short on addressing children’s particular hair and skin problems. So, what’s an enterprising mom to do? Develop her own line, of course.
It seems to have struck a chord. Solomon reports sales have doubled since the company’s launch in 2010 and she expects to quadruple them by next year.
