There is a new fitness product combines the motivation of group spin classes with the convenience of at-home workouts. It’s known as the Peloton Bike, and it’s available at the Peloton store in The Westchester in White Plains.
The Peloton Bike started in 2013 as an ambitious Kickstarter project by a relatively small team of less than a dozen people. With the help of eager investors, they managed to exceed their $250,000 goal to cover building costs.
The bike contains a large touch-screen monitor that uses Wi-Fi to connect the user to live and on demand spin classes in New York City. It has an immersive panel that is four times the size of a normal tablet, and uses competitive social features like leaderboards and achievements to keep users motivated.
The current price of a Peloton is $1,995 for the actual bike, and a $39 monthly subscription for unlimited classes. People interested in trying the experience are encouraged to download the App version on their tablet.
