Looks like someone went and made DMX act a fool up in here, yet again.
Earl Simmons, the Yonkers-raised rapper’s legal name, failed to appear in Westchester County Supreme Court on Monday morning for a divorce and child support case, according to The Journal News. This is the latest in a string of legal issues for Simmons.
The rapper performed an event called DMX-MAS at Foxtail Nightclub in Las Vegas this past Sunday, and had another concert scheduled for Tuesday. When neither he nor his legal team showed up for his court date on Monday, Joseph Daniels, the attorney representing his ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, said it was “par for the course.”
“The problem is he has to provide support, and he’s got to work to provide support, and he can’t provide support if he’s going back and forth to court,” Murray Richman, Simmons’ attorney, told The Journal News.
DMX’s legal team allegedly believed the court date was changed in advance to accommodate for the booked event, according to TMZ.
In October, Simmons was arrested in his Westchester County home on a contempt of court charge issued in July, for failure to pay $10,000 a month in child support to his ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, and their four children. Simmons was released without bail.
To top it all off? Simmons was sentenced to six months in a Buffalo jail in July for failing to pay $400,000 in child support payments. He was just released in September.
For the DMX fans out there who need some cheering up, here’s the Ruff Ryder himself singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer:
