A Tree Grows in Pleasantville

More than 350 guests, including State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Westchester County Legislator John Nonna, attended the Jewish Child Care Association’s fifth annual benefit, entitled A Tree Grows in Pleasantville. The event was the organization’s most successful. Though no trees grew, a lot of green was raised—more than $300,000 for The Cottage Schools (Pleasantville Cottage School, Edenwald Center, and Pleasantville Diagnostic Center), the JCCA’s at-risk youth residential treatment programs. “I continue to be amazed by the ongoing support to The Cottage Schools from our friends in the community,” says Barbara Salmanson, president of Jewish Child Care Association. “Their enthusiasm and commitment is truly inspiring and deeply appreciated.” The importance of the evening was highlighted when two Cottage School residents spoke about how the residential treatment center had changed their lives. The evening was held in The Cottage School’s dining room, decorated with four seasonal trees representing the event’s theme, Four Seasons of Caring.
