Heartbreaking news about Bob Simon of @60Minutes, a brilliant writer and reporter and someone I admired deeply.

Simon stood out as an example of not only reporting talent, but also courage in the face of adversity. In 1991, Simon was imprisoned in Iraq, and he returned two years after his release to continue his coverage.
As Palestinian reporter Daoud Kuttab remembers,
“At the time that his colleagues were enjoying the Tel Aviv sun and beach, Bob was ploughing the streets of Gaza and the villages of the West Bank looking for that unique voice, that special interview, which he could beautifully embroider into his news masterpieces.”
The 73-year-old reporter had been working on a segment on Ebola to be aired on Sunday with his daughter Tanya, a producer for 60 Minutes.
