Hastings-on-Hudson resident Jessica Mullins suffered for years from health issues, receiving little help from conventional medicine, when she turned to herbs, natural supplements, and dietary changes to heal holistically. After leaving her job in marketing and advertising to focus on herbal medicine, Mullins realized she could help others through creating natural remedies. In 2017, she opened Found Herbal Apothecary in Bronxville and, after finding success, debuted a second location, in Hastings, in June.
At Found Herbal, Mullins sells essential oils, CBD oils, plant-based body creams, salves, and balms. The Hastings location also has a tea-and-coffee bar, serving up organic, fair-trade beverages, like chai lattes and lavender matcha, and small bites, like chickpea and Brussels sprouts salads. Mullins formulates all of her products for both locations herself (her new 1,400 sq. ft. space has a full production facility) and explains that since she is a clinical herbalist, she can aid customers with the products that might help them.
“People will come to me with clinical problems, like sleep deprivation, immune support, digestive issues, and I’ll create products based on what I see a need for,” she explains.
“Meeting everyone and getting to know the community and sharing what I love has been life-changing for me.”

Popular products at both locations include anything containing turmeric, topical pain relievers like CBD salves, and sleep-related products, such as sleep balms, oils, and tinctures. An Indiana native, Mullins feels her apothecaries have brought her closer to the people of Westchester.
“Meeting everyone and getting to know the community and sharing what I love has been life-changing for me,” she says. The new mom manages a team of six (including an herbalist) and divides her time between both locations, while hosting stands at farmers’ markets throughout the county.
