If you’re concerned it might be hard to pull off separates for the bridesmaids’ attire, let Kelsey and Matt’s wedding at Tarrytown’s Lyndhurst Castle prove how cool that look can be. The couple, who met at the University of Tampa, started dating during a summer internship in New York City.
Now New Jersey residents (after a four-year stint in San Diego), the couple headed back to New York State to tie the knot. “It was really important to have our ceremony and reception at one property,” says Kelsey. “When we saw Lyndhurst for the first time, I fell in love, not with the castle, but with the structure of the greenhouse.” The ceremony was held in the greenhouse, followed by photos in the rose garden, cocktails in the shadow of the Gothic castle, and the reception under a draped tent hung with chandeliers.
Rather than dress her bridal party in traditional never-wear-them-again bridesmaid dresses, Kelsey paired an ultra-feminine, pale pink tulle skirt with a fun, sleeveless lace top by BHLDN. “Once I saw this set, I knew that was it,” she recalls. “I wanted my bridesmaids to wear something with texture.”
What advice would she offer to couples planning their own nuptials? “Focus on what is most important to you and your [soon-to-be] spouse. Chances are you will spend more than you budget for, so put aside an extra cushion. And lastly, no one cares about the stamps you use.”
