A New Approach to Pain

Chiropractor George Gertner, DC, founder and director of Upper Cervical Chiropractic of New York in White Plains, is one of a select group of doctors currently using an innovative spinal-correction procedure developed by the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA). “Without any popping, twisting, or cracking, the NUCCA procedure restores the spine back to its proper and stable upright position,” explains Gertner. “This procedure is so effective because it treats the root cause of the pain at the source.”

The NUCCA procedure uses a combination of gentle touch and advanced diagnostics. “We use about the amount of pressure you would use to check your pulse,” says Gertner. “We do three-dimensional digital X-rays, as well as nerve scans, to find the problem. The misalignment is then calculated mathematically and, once we know the exact angle or vector from which to correct the spine, we conduct the procedure just below the ear and gently release the spine.”

Gertner says there is no recovery time and no risks associated with the NUCCA procedure. “The only adjustment we make is to the atlas vertebra,” he says. “It is not until you fix that top vertebra that the entire spine straightens up; this is a dramatic change.”

Gertner is one of only five NUCCA-certified chiropractors in New York and one of fewer than 200 worldwide. “In the last 14 years, we have successfully treated close to 10,000 patients from all over the world,” shares Gertner. “There is such a huge need for more doctors who can perform the NUCCA procedure that we are currently hiring and training interns and associate doctors to open satellite offices to serve the New York Metro area.”
